This pattern is a part of the Isager Archives collection 2024.
The Gerda Skirt is inspired by Åse Lund Jensen's classic pattern, which is characterized by its structure and beautiful cables. The Gerda Skirt reinterprets this classic into a soft and airy contemporary style, with a modern top-down construction while staying true to the original features. The Gerda Skirt matches the Gerda Sweater, both are featured in the Isager Archives collection 2024.
CONSTRUCTION
The skirt is worked from top to bottom. The back of the skirt is made higher with the German short-row technique. The waistband is folded over to create a double waistband with an opening so the optional elastic band can be added. The skirt has increases along the sides to create the shape. It is recommended to create your own length of the skirt to suit your fashion. The skirt is finished by adding approx. 2cm of rib at the bottom.

Note: It is important to make the skirt with a NEGATIVE ease so it is fitted and stays on. It is possible to add optional elastic at the waist. The model in the photo measures 72 cm in the waist and 92 cm in the hips and wears a size 1, which gives a negative movable width of -2 cm in the waist and -10 cm in the hips.
YARN
The skirt is worked with 3 strands throughout; 2 threads of Spinni and 1 thread of Silk mohair. Please note that the recommended yarn requirement is for the skirt length described in the pattern. If you choose to make your skirt longer, the yarn requirement needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Spinni (50 g / 300 m, 100% wool) 150 (200) 250 g

GAUGE
20 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm on 4 mm needle in pattern, before blocking.
19 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm, after blocking.
